Makita Drills
One of the leaders in small appliances with electronic motors is the Makita Corporation. In 1958, they began producing power tools with the electric drill and planer. The transition to the electronic tools was a smooth transition yet it was also the beginning of creating the legendary drills and power tools. The electric drill was created from extensive research and development for higher technology of the drills that would be the foundation for other power tools in the industry. It would be a short time later when Makita would take on the world of power tools.
By 1970, Makita built the first power tool manufacturing plant placing them in the lead with Makita drills as other power tools. In 1977, Makita built the first service center factory for their American expansion. With their forward thinking and technology savvy, they soon created the cordless tools that would make their mark in the power tool industry.

By 1978, Makita created the cordless drill that used a battery power pack. They were considered the first cordless but that was not where Makita stopped as they managed to make their way to the top of the industry. Due to the need for further expansion, Makita built a large facility in Georgia stating to the world, they were here for the long run.
The need for the accessibility of power tools without cords would be a demand that Makita met with all their power tools. Makita drills are only one of the pieces of the product line from this trusted and admired company. They have cordless saws and other essential tools for the DIY or professional in both heavy duty and light weight designs.
In 1987, Makita stepped up to the demands by creating a complete line of cordless tools making them the originator of the cordless age of power tools. By 1997, Makita drills were constructed out of nickel-metal hydride producing a lighter and longer battery life model. The rest is history or just the beginning of more things to come from Makita.
